Stocked FP crowns can be installed with the blocks or can be mitered. This gives flexibility for installation to any level DIYer or contractor
The blocks are designed with tabs for ease of installation (you do not have to nail through the face). They are made out of a specially formulated polystyrene so they can be nailed or screwed without splitting or cracking
FP products give you the dimension and detail of plaster but are priced economically for the consumer or contractor
The breadth of the stocked product line allows a consumer to do crowns, base, chair rails, casings, interior or exterior doors, niches, wall systems, and fire place surrounds (polyurethane has the same fire rating as wood, so the same codes that apply to wood would apply to FP)
As an aside, although FP has many interior applications it is made out of a closed polymer, therefore, it can be used in exterior applications also
Dealers offer both a 4 1/8" and 5 7/8" crown. The design in the moulding is a factor of individual taste. However, we duplicated some of the designs in both sizes because it is generally felt that the 4 1/8" crown is best used in 8'-9' ceilings, the 5 7/8" fits in 10'-12'+ ceilings.
